july 13: the blue Buddhas (?) strike again, bad name namers strike again, and the String Lady strikes again

Above picture: Two happy Hindus with two happy Buddhas (?).
We spent Thursday travelling around Karur with a local NGO. They took on a Family Circus-like tour visiting a handful of their self-help groups (SHGs) and their respective micro-enterprises.
The above picture shows one of these SHGs. They have a very successful micro-enterprise. They mostly make pottery and sell them in mass to local businesses.
The women in the group used to be roaming nomads.

Above picture: Psycho Trust!?!

The NGO we toured around with all day on Thursday was called Psycho Trust. I don't know why they decided to name themselves Psycho Trust, but they did. Odd.

Above picture: The String Lady strikes again.

Lesson of the day: People like cameras.

Great Blog!

My friend had a brass buddha. We would rub it's belly and make our requests but nothing ever materialized. Those blue buddhas look happier then the brass one.

Hello dearest Andrew,
I hope all is well in India. You seem to be in one piece, which is always a good thing. The picture of the string lady is awesome. It looks like something you would find in national geographic (trust me, I know these kind of things). Good for you. Keep up the pictures, they bring me joy. And if you brought me back a tiny buddha, I wouldn't be upset. Be good you crazy little white boy.
Kisses,
Stephanie

ps. When are we doing another concert?
